Why are Ron Paul’s supporters such lousy debaters?

Since making this post the supporter gave his response, and stage 2 began. His response was full of crazy, and failed to address the major points of Starshark’s post. Anyway, stage 2, Starshark makes another damning post. And that was the end. Debate was ended by forfeit.

What I’ve learned about from this debate has been illuminating. His faults are obvious and many. But what’s really of note is his supporters. They can’t string coherent thoughts together; they are oblivious to his faults; they embrace crazy ideas. Liberty is crazy? No, you dipshits - believing that the US government is being replaced by the “North American Union” and that the roads which connect Mexico, USA, and Canada comprise a superhighway that enables it is crazy. Believing that the Federal Reserve is an instrument of socialism is fucking batshit insane. Did you sleep through American History when your class was learning about the Great Depression?

Excellent article. ’s flaws are plain to everyone except his clueless supporters, who seem to think that being ignored by mainstream makes him one of them. It’s the nerd factor - the instant identification with someone getting a wedgie. They ignore or gloss over issues that are important to them, like Net Neutrality, and zoom in on the perceived oppression.

The internet fervor behind reminds me of furries. Most are fairly normal, but because they are nerds, they are loathe to reject anyone. This leads to real wackos being fully accepted, coloring the whole group as a bunch of freaks.

A response to: Some Good (But Fake) Reasons Not To Vote For Ron Paul

To contrast with Pat Buchanan and say that does not want to build a border fence shows you are either ignorant or a liar. voted yes on building a border fence. ’s stance on immigration, according to his campaign website, is “physically securing our borders”.  When says he’s not an isolationist, and only supports non-intervention, he’s splitting hairs. His stance on American independence is total and complete withdrawal from all international organizations. is perfectly happy with the idea of pretending the rest of the world doesn’t exist. That is isolationism.

You say isn’t interested in shrimp. No fucking shit. You defend it as if it’s protecting his constituents. He’s protecting his job is what he’s doing. It’s pork, and should be derided as such.

Your third point that there really is a chance he’ll become President I agree with. Right now, ’s supporters are aiming to become Electoral College delegates so they can manipulate the system. As much a problem as the Electoral College is, it serves to keep crackpots like out of the White House.  You know, the way the Electoral College is supposed to work is that the delegates vote according to the wishes of their constituents. And in some states, this is by law. Whether one is for or against “winner takes all”, the basic premise is that it’s a system that serves the voters. But these douchebags want to go fucking it up and become delegates for the express purpose of putting in office. It’s already a bad system that is anti-democracy, so in a way, they’ll be doing us all a favor when people go ape shit when they see their votes were ignored. Bring on the revolution, motherfucker!

Someone far more articulate - though less entertaining, as swear ridden rants are my thing - than I painted a much better picture of the kind of disaster will be. Would Ron Paul be disastrous for the USA? — Starshark vs. Philbeck - IIDB
